You can request books to be purchased by the library for your course, by filing in our online form. However, due to budget restrictions, we can't guarantee that we can purchase the requested item. We will inform as quickly as possible whether we can fulfil the request.
We would also recommend reading our Collection Development Policy to understand exactly what type of content can be recommended. You can also e-mail reading lists to acquisitions@dkit.ie.
Reading lists are seen as a key aspect of creating effective courses as they provide a roadmap for the students to follow.
It is highly recommended that when you create a reading list that you link to items on that list that can be accessed online via a hyperlink in the document. This allows students to easily access the material without having to go searching. If the title is available in e-format via then Library you can link to an item directly using a permalink. Publishers often offer a free inspection copy service so that you can assess a book before adding it to your reading list. Contact the relevant publishers directly to receive inspection copies.
